Yellowstone Dutton Ranch wouldn’t have survived if it wasn’t for branded men like Rip Wheeler, Lloyd and others. They do not just remain loyal to the ranch, as their responsibility as branded men stretches far beyond the daily life activities of a Wrangler.
Rip Wheeler has made a big contribution to the entire series as most of the dark activities that need to be performed are handled by him. Since the very beginning of the series, Rip is found involved in dealing with things that most couldn’t.

John Dutton found Rip Wheeler and allowed him to forget the past and start a new one. As a result, he continues to work for the Dutton ranch and takes care of the tasks with greater risks.

It was the moment when we, as viewers, were introduced to the idea that Rip Wheeler is a force to reckon with. Within all the chaos, John realises the transformation that Rip Shell had gone through. If anything, he would still remain the most loyal and dependable person, even if Kayce, Beth and Jamine won’t make it as he wished them to.
Life is a lesson, boy, one long lesson, but you’ve got to look to learn them.
Rip wasn’t blessed enough and had to go through a rough childhood where there was hardly any sign of healthy well-being. He had to face the problem which would end everything else along with it. At the end of the day, he ended up with John Dutton and continued to learn several important lessons that served as the foundation of his personality.

Wranglers/cowboys aren’t permanent at the Yellowstone ranch. However, some special branded members aren’t going anywhere and are forever stuck with the Yellowstone ranch. Jimmy was one of them.

Aside from the Dutton family members, Rip is the one person who knows the most about everything that the family has been through. Initially, Rip was disappointed with Kayce because of his poor judgement and decision-making capabilities. Kayce turned out to be the first person to have disobeyed his father and left the ranch, while others remained even when John asked them to leave.
Kayce invited several unnecessary problems to the family and was partly responsible for the ultimate demise of Lee Dutton.

It’s always funny seeing Rip commenting on Jimmy’s actions. Out of all the branded men and the temporary cowboys, Rip pays ample attention to Jimmy and looks at Lloyd as his father figure.

One of the most bada$$ moments of season 3 was the the clash between the biker gang and the Yellowstone ranchers. Although it was already clear that the Duttons did not compromise when things came down to a fight, fans witnessed that overwhelming passion of John Dutton if it’s about keeping a man’s word.

Rip and Beth know each other pretty well. They had been in a complicated relationship since their childhood. However, there were times when Rip was confused about Beth’s mental state and the choices she made. Walker was one thing that Rip hated the most and one of the reasons behind his hatred was Walker’s moves towards Beth.
And “I’m sorry” is two words you never have to say to me.

Jimmy hadn’t been a troublemaker as compared to Kayce. However, there were times when he failed to keep up with his father’s expectations, which made things take a turn for the worse. Jamie was responsible for some of the trickiest trouble that the family had to go through.

In other words, Rip was threatening Kayce for his mistake as he was tasked with taking care of Walker by sending him to the train station, but Kayce was convinced to make a different choice.

Walker turned out to be a real trouble for Rip. He wasn’t obedient and didn’t perform any task as he was supposed to.
You all wanted revenge Well, now you got it. But there’s a price to pay for revenge. Now you gotta pay it.
But the revenge was something that only branded men were supposed to undertake. And everyone who witnessed the scene was meant to be branded. And that’s the price to pay.

This one-sided conversation is evidence of Rip’s deeper connection with his mother. Even though she was long gone, Rip took the time to visit her and inform her about the new beginning of his life with Beth.
